Government of Zacatecas Celebrates the 28th Anniversary of the Federación de Clubes Unidos Zacatecanos en Illinois

The Government of Zacatecas recognized the Federación de Clubes Unidos Zacatecanos en Illinois (FCUZI) for its XXVIII Anniversary.

The event was led by the Secretary of Tourism, Le Roy Barragán Ocampo, on behalf of Governor David Monreal Ávila.

The secretary highlighted the work that the Zacatecans who make up the FCUZI have done in twenty-eight years, today made up of 21 clubs from various municipalities that continue to strengthen their people and their communities of origin.

Accompanied by the Secretary of the Zacatecan Migrant (Sezami), Iván Reyes Millán, Barragán Ocampo presented the recognitions «Migrant Merit 2023», as young Zacatecan of the year to Yadira Padilla Méndez and the former president of the FCUZI, Ismael Mota, as Zacatecan of the year, for his voluntary work within the Federation, and his professional career.

During the gala that brought together the members of the 21 Zacatecan clubs, originally from Atolinga, Valparaíso, Sombrerete, Monte Escobedo, Fresnillo, Tepetongo, Ojocaliente, Villa González Ortega, Joaquín Amaro, Gral. Francisco R. Murguía, Gral, Pánfilo Natera, Jerez and Villanueva, stood up and protested to two new clubs: La Gavia de Jerez and Comunitario Boca de Villanueva.

In the presence of the Mayor of Aurora, Illinois, Richard C. Irvin and First Lady Laura Ayala, as well as the representative of Ambassador Reyna Torres, Consul General of Mexico in Chicago, Saúl Juárez Montaño, the Miss Zacatecas 2023 pageant was held. being elected and crowned Alondra Hernández, from the Business Club.

The queens of other clubs also participated, such as Melissa Carlos, from the Atolinga Social Club; Thalia Urquizo, from the Boca de Rivera Community Club and Karina Romero, from the Joaquín Amaro Club.

The President of the Federation, José Ángel Padilla, thanked the support of his board of directors to carry out various activities during the year, and thanked the presence of the state government, mayors and deputies.

Meetings with two Federations

On this work tour, the Secretary of the Zacatecano Migrant, Iván Reyes Millán, met in Chicago with the president and members of the United Federation for Zacatecas, headed by Luis Acosta. Just as he also attended the Annual Picnic organized by the Zacatecas Without Borders Federation in Illinois, chaired by Antonio Ávila, an event for coexistence between the Zacatecas families that make up the clubs and that carry out fundraising activities.
